“ I picked up breakfast at the Pancake Cottage on Catalina Island, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The breakfast was reasonably priced, although I wish they had a better selection of omelets and allowed you to build your own with at least three vegetables without charging for each additional item. On the positive side, they do stuff their omelets with lots of meat, which I really enjoyed. I got full, the food tasted good, and that was great. However, they took a little longer than I would have liked to bring the check, and we had to ask them for it. Other than that, it was a good experience and one of the tastier meals on the island. ”

“ This restaurant is conveniently located near the dock where you arrive off the boat in Catalina. It's the perfect place to stop for breakfast. The chorizo sizzler was absolutely delicious, so much flavor! It came with potatoes, peppers, onions, and chorizo topped with eggs. It came with a side of tortillas as well. It was so much food it could honestly be shared. We also ordered the blueberry pancakes to try. I know it's called pancake cottage but don't get the pancakes, they were bland and dry. Everything else was great! I highly recommend! ”

“ Delicious breakfasts with big portions. I had the biscuits and gravy combo, which came with eggs (I had scrambled eggs), potatoes, and bacon or sausage. It was a nice satisfying breakfast. I also tried the chicken fried steak and chorizo. Both were great as well. Service was wonderful! ”

“ Breakfast options in Avalon are slightly limited compared to lunch and dinner. Aside from two cafés, this and one other spot seemed to be the only sit down breakfast restaurants that were open early daily. We chose to come here because the recent reviews were slightly better than the other restaurant. They had a good sized menu that offered a variety of classic diner breakfast foods. I was torn between the belgian waffle and the eggs benedict, but ended up going with the benedict because I was craving hash browns. The benedict itself was good, the eggs cooked perfectly and the bacon and avocado plentiful. The hollandaise could've used a little more flavor, but overall it was pretty good. The hash browns unfortunately were pretty bland and very burnt tasting. They did a good job hiding that they were burnt by putting that side down on the plate, but wow was that all you could taste. Similar to most restaurants on the island, they did not have tap water, but you could purchase bottled water. Luckily we had learned our lesson and brought our waters with us. I saw some negative reviews about the service, but didn't have that experience at all. Everyone was polite and friendly. If this were a spot back home I'd probably give it 3 stars, but for the limited offerings on the island this is a good breakfast option if you want a more substantial sit down breakfast. ”

“ A bit late on the review but catching up! We were on Catalina Island back in June and I wanted to be sure to offer a review and give a shout out to this great breakfast place! There was a bit of wait but we expected that being on the island at breakfast time on a Saturday! Was about a 20 minute wait so not too bad. There was only four of us so that made a difference because we saw lots of bigger parties waiting. Busy, hoping place for sure but clean and bright dining area with tons of natural light from all of the windows facing the water. Our server was Violeta and she was nice, efficient and busy! She took our drink orders and then when she brought them was ready for our food order. Starting by saying...you are paying for bottled water, as is the practice on the island. They charge $2.00 per bottle (it's so funny how every place has no cost or up to $2.00 per bottle). We ordered pancakes, of course, and they were so good...delicate, tender, and had that malt-like flavor. Also had the Big Skillet Scramble which was huge and had lots of good things in it. My grandson ordered the Chorizo Sizzler with well done eggs which was put over the top of the skillet. I had the Eggs Benni and granddaughter had the California Bennie...both served with perfectly cooked poached eggs and covered with a nice and light hollandaise. I squeezed a bit more lemon over mine because I love that lemony part of hollandaise. Overall a really good experience and we had an great breakfast. Thank you everyone!!! ”
